Use the icon panel

Mind Map Pro is a digital tool that starts with mind mapping and then allows you to add depth, enhancing creativity and productivity.

You can add notes, colour and images, assign tasks and chat with friends or colleagues, all from within your Doodle.

You aren’t limited to using words or short phrases. Add notes, colour and images, assign tasks and chat with friends or colleagues, all from within your Doodle.

When you click on or hover over an idea in your mind map, you’ll reveal the icon panel.

From left to right, the controls are:

  1. Plus icon: Add a new idea, connecting to the current idea
  2. Pencil icon: Edit your idea and develop it with notes, tasks and media
  3. Chat icon: Send a chat comment relating to this idea
  4. Paint icon: Change the colour of this idea
  5. Trash icon: Delete this idea

Plus icon

The icon on the far left-hand side of the icon panel is the plus icon, which resembles the + sign.

Use this for adding new ideas that connect to your existing idea.

When you click on the plus icon, a new idea will automatically be created.

Pencil icon

The next icon, moving from left to right across the icon panel, is the pencil icon.

Use this to edit and add depth to your idea with notes, media and tasks.

When you click on the pencil icon, you’ll be shown a new screen, where you can drill-down into your idea.

Here you can add notes, add tasks, upload media files and other documents, and connect your Doodle to another. Learn more about how to develop your ideas.

To navigate back to the mind map, use the navigation tools at the top of the screen.

Chat icon

The third icon, moving from left to right across the icon panel, is the chat icon, which resembles a speech bubble.

Use this to open the chat window, where you can add a comment in a chat thread that is connected with your idea. Learn more about using chat.

When you click on the chat icon, the chat window will open from the right hand side of the screen.

Close the window by clicking the cross icon, which resembles a cross (x) sign, at the top right hand corner of the chat window.

Alternatively, you can close the chat window by clicking on the chat icon at the top of the screen, which will be highlighted when the chat window is open.

Paint icon

The penultimate icon, moving from left to right across the icon panel, is the paint icon, which resembles a paint can.

Use this icon to change the colour of your idea.

When you click on the paint icon, you can either:

  • Select from 18 colour boxes
  • Use the colour slider to choose a unique shade
  • Use the colour picker to choose a unique shade

If you are changing the colour of a parent idea, which has child ideas connected to it, you will see a pop-up message asking you whether you want to change the colour of all ideas in the branch. Click the button that says ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ depending on your choice.

Click on the paint icon again to hide the colour selection.

Trash icon

The final icon, moving from left to right across the icon panel, is the trash icon, which resembles a trash can.

Use this icon to delete an idea you no longer need.

Warning

You cannot restore an idea once it has been deleted.

When you click the trash icon to delete an idea, you will see a pop-up message asking you whether you are sure you want to remove the idea. If you are happy to proceed, click the button that says ‘Delete’.

If you are trying to delete a parent idea, which has child ideas connected to it, the pop-up will include a checkbox option for you to delete all ideas in the branch.

Please note

You cannot delete your central idea.

By using the icon panel, you can get the most out of each idea in your mind map.
