You can export your mind map in a number of ways, making it easy to share or present your ideas, or continue working from a different platform offline.
Export to MS Office
You can export your Doodle to a Microsoft Office document, choosing the format that suits you:
- Word
- PowerPoint
- Project
You can export from map view, tree view, 3D view, or when viewing the details of an idea.
From map view, tree view or 3D view, click on the export icon, resembling a download sign, located on the left hand side of your screen.
From the detailed view of an idea, the export icon will be located close to the top of the screen.
Once you have clicked the export icon, you will be shown a screen with four export options, depicted as the download option with different colours and letters:
- W + blue background for Microsoft Word
- PRJ + orange background for Microsoft Project
- PPT + red background for Microsoft PowerPoint
- PNG + green background for an image
Microsoft Word
To export to MS Word, click the blue export icon labelled ‘W’.
Your export will automatically save to your downloads folder.
When you open your Word export, the contents of your Doodle will be organised into an index, with your ideas as headings. Child ideas will become sub headings.
Any notes, featured images, or images in your notes sections, will be exported underneath those headings.
You can edit the content of your document, tailoring it to suit your needs.
Microsoft Project
To export to MS Project, click the orange export icon labelled ‘PRJ’.
You will be taken to a new screen, showing an XML file as a document tree.
Import the XML file to Microsoft Project. Visit the Microsoft Project guide on importing data and follow the steps.
Microsoft PowerPoint
To export to MS PowerPoint, click the red export icon labelled ‘PPT’.
Your export will automatically save to your downloads folder.
When you open your PowerPoint export, your ideas will become headings for different slides in your presentation. Child ideas will become sub headings.
Any notes, featured images, or images in your notes sections, will be exported underneath those headings.
You can edit the content of your presentation, tailoring it to suit your needs.
Export an image
One major advantages of mind maps is that they are a visual way of working. To maintain that creativity, you may choose to export your Doodle as an image.
You can export an image when you are in mind map view or tree view.
Use the export icon, resembling a download sign, located on the left of the screen.
To export an image, click the green export icon labelled ‘PNG’.
Your export will automatically save to your downloads folder.
When you open your image export, you will see that it includes all ideas in your Doodle in high resolution so that you can zoom in to take a closer look at the details.
Export SWOT analysis
You can export your SWOT analysis to Microsoft Word.
Open a Doodle and click on the SWOT icon in the toolbar at the top of the screen.
Click on the ‘Export’ tab.
Before you export your SWOT analysis, you have the interact with each 3D chart to select the best view.
To change the view of your 3D chart, you can:
- Use your mouse scroller to zoom in and out
- Click and drag your mouse across the screen to rotate your 3D charts for different perspectives
- Click on an idea to pull it into focus and preview reasonings and numerical values you have assigned to it
Select the view for:
- SWOT analysis overview
- Strengths
- Weaknesses
- Opportunities
- Threats
Once you have selected your preferred view for each section of your SWOT analysis, click export.
Your export will automatically save to your downloads folder.
Export tasks
You may find it useful to export your agile board tasks into CSV format at points, to record your progress, or share with people outside your team.
To export tasks to a CSV file, first go to the task board. Open a Doodle and click on the task management icon, resembling a grid, located in the panel at the top of the screen. Learn more about the task board.
Click the export icon, resembling a download sign, located at the top of the backlog.
Your export will automatically save to your downloads folder.
Once the file is downloaded, you can open it in a variety of spreadsheet tools such as Apple’s Numbers or Microsoft Excel.
The export will automatically organise your tasks into columns, showing:
- The unique task ID
- The Sprint the task is assigned to
- The idea the task is connected to
- The task title
- Whether the task is active or not
- Who the task was created by
- Who is assigned to the task
- The type of task it is
- The priority of the task
- The estimated time of the task
- How much time is remaining
- Any notes included in the task
You can edit the content of your spreadsheet, tailoring it to suit your needs.
