Our plugin for WordPress, Mind Map Pro Visual Sitemaps & Tasks, makes sitemaps visual, task management simple and improves team communication. To get started, download the plugin.
Activate
- Download the plugin
- Activate the plugin on your WordPress site
- Click ‘Mind Doodle’ in the dashboard
- Choose from the options
Once you have downloaded and activated the plugin, select Mind Map Pro in your WordPress dashboard on the left hand side of the screen.
You will have four options in the dashboard:
- Mind Map Pro
- Sitemap
- Tasks
- Add New
Mind Map Pro
Click ‘Mind Map Pro’ from the WordPress dashboard to get started by connecting your WordPress site and Mind Map Pro account.
You will now see the Mind Map Pro settings page.
Firstly, sign into your Mind Map Pro account. If you do not have an existing Mind Map Pro account, sign up to create an account for free.
Once you have signed in, use the drop-down menu to select which Mind Map Pro team you would like to connect your WordPress site to.
It it possible to use the plugin without a Mind Map Pro account. However, for the best experience, we recommend you sign up and take advantage of all the added features, from 3D viewing to agile task management boards, all with with real-time collaboration and live chat.
Head back to the settings page at any point to log out of Mind Map Pro or switch account.
From here, you can also go to Mind Map Pro to see your website structure visually as a mind map.
Sitemap
Click ‘Sitemap’ from the WordPress dashboard to view and interact with your visual sitemap.
If you have downloaded the plugin to use for an existing site, the sitemap will show you the pages in your site visually, including a hierarchy of parent and child pages. You can interact with the pages and change the relationship between parent and child pages by dragging-and-dropping.
If you are creating a new WordPress site, you can visually build your site up by adding pages using the visual sitemap.
You can access the visual sitemap from WordPress or from Mind Map Pro, and any edits made on either platform will update in real-time.
Add a page
To add a page, hover over the central idea and an icon panel will appear.
Click the plus icon to add an idea, which represents a page.
Add as many ideas branching out from here as you like and it will add the pages to your website.
Rename a page
To rename your page, double click on the existing name. Start typing and change the page title to whatever you choose.
Press enter when you are finished.
Add child pages
Extend your sitemap by adding child pages.
Hover over the idea that represents the page you’d like to add a child page to. Click the plus sign in the icon panel to create the child page.
Continue this process to add more child pages, adding to the structure of your sitemap visually.
Preview page
When you are done editing, or to preview your work on screen, click the eye icon in the icon panel.
This will take you to a preview of the page you have created.
Edit page conent
To add content and edit your pages, click on the pencil icon in the icon panel.
This will take you to the page draft. From here, you can use standard WordPress features to add content and edit your page.
View tasks
To view the tasks associated with a page, and add more tasks, click on the tick icon in the icon panel.
Set as draft page
To set the page as a draft page, click on the icon with the dotted red border in the icon panel.
Publish page
To publish a draft page, click on the rocket icon in the icon panel.
Trash a page
To delete a page, use the trash icon in the icon panel.
Restructure page hierarchy
You can edit your website hierarchy and structure easily from your visual sitemap.
Click and drag a page in your sitemap using your mouse. Place it over the page you’d like to assign as its parent page, and drop it by taking your finger off the mouse.
Changes you make with your visual sitemap will automatically restructure your site, making the process quick and easy.
View sitemap in Mind Map Pro
You can also view and interact with your sitemap in Mind Map Pro rather than in the WordPress dashboard.
Click “View in Mind Map Pro” from the Mind Map Pro settings in the WordPress dashboard.
Alternatively, log in from https://www.mindmappro.com select find your team, then Doodle name.
Detailed view
Hover your mouse over any page in your sitemap, then click the notes icon, resembling a pencil and notepad, to enter detailed view, where you can see notes and media or add tasks for that page.
Notes
You and your clients can add notes to any page in your sitemap.
Type notes in the blank box above the featured image, helping you communicate effectively with clients when building or updating a WordPress site.
Media
Click the ‘Media’ tab to see the featured image and other media files uploaded in this page.
Click on the thumbnail to enlarge the image.
Tasks
Click on the ‘Tasks’ tab to see existing tasks or add new tasks.
