You have the freedom and control to move and update connections between ideas in Mind Map Pro by:
- Repositioning ideas
- Reconnecting ideas
- Adding additional associative links
When you create a new idea, it will be placed within a free space in your Doodle automatically, but it doesn’t need to stay there.
You can move each idea independently of the other ideas on your canvas.
Move ideas around mind map
To move an idea around the mind map, first use your mouse to click on the idea.
Hold down the mouse and drag the idea, then drop it to a new position by releasing your mouse.
If you decide to change the structure of ideas in your mind map, we’ve made it easy for you to update connections at any point throughout the mind mapping process.
Change parent connections
To reconnect an idea to a different parent idea, first use your mouse to click on the idea you want to move.
Hold down the mouse and drag it, then place it on top of the new parent idea.
A pop-up will prompt you to confirm that you definitely want to move this idea. Simply click ‘Move’ to confirm, or ‘Cancel’ if you change your mind.
When you reconnect your idea, the connection will change but the idea will not change position. This leaves you free to move it around the canvas as you wish.
You can use associative links to add additional connections between the ideas in your mind map, which will appear as dotted lines.
Add additional connecting links
To add an associative link, hover your mouse over an idea. At the bottom of the idea, you’ll see the associative links icon, which resembles a horizontal triangle with circles on three connecting points.
Click on the icon with your mouse, hold and drag it to another idea, then drop it by releasing your mouse.
Add a contextual label to the link by double clicking anywhere on the connection and typing in the text box that pops up. Press enter to save.
If you change your mind, you can remove the label by double clicking again and deleting the text, then pressing enter.
Delete an associate link by using your mouse to right click on the link.
